Christopher Yanucil, PhD

Dr. Yanucil is currently lead scientist at Alpha Young. Chris worked as a research scientist in the biotech industry for three years, before starting his PhD at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine where he joined Dr. Faul’s group in 2014. His work under the mentorship of Dr. Faul has focused on the cardiac effects of FGF23 and klotho in the context of CKD. 

Bio

Chris is currently a lead scientist at Alpha Young. He was previously a Post-Doc in the Division of Nephrology at UAB. He conducted his work in the laboratory of Dr. Christian Faul in the Division of Nephrology and the Department of Medicine. He received his PhD title in Cell and Molecular Biology in the summer of 2020. Chris worked as a research scientist in the biotech industry for three years, before starting his PhD at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine where he joined Dr. Faul’s group in 2014. His work under the mentorship of Dr. Faul has focused on the cardiac effects of FGF23 and klotho in the context of CKD. Chris has received an F31 PhD student fellowship from the NIH supporting his klotho-related research. Together with Dr. Faul, he has co-developed the detection assay and purification technique for sKL as well as the approach to screen for FGFR4 inhibitors.
